As a Jones Waldo shareholder and a member of both its litigation and franchise departments, Lewis Francis has extensive experience in litigating, arbitrating and mediating disputes involving franchise agreements, arbitration clauses, trademarks, copyrights, and unfair competition in various state and federal jurisdictions across the United States. As part of such proceedings, he has successfully pursued and opposed preliminary and permanent injunctive relief. He has also prosecuted and defended a number of related appeals.
Lewis is also well-versed in obtaining the necessary immigration visas for specialized temporary employees, such as those qualifying for H-1B, TN or L visas, as well as securing permanent residency ("green card") for immigrant workers.
Lewis graduated in 1985 from the University of Utah, magna cum laude, with a B.S. in Economics and Spanish, and also studied at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid, Spain. In 1993, Lewis graduated from the University of Utah College of Law magna cum laude, where he was on the Law Review, and was awarded Order of the Coif. Following law school, Lewis served as a Judicial Clerk to the Honorable Gregory K. Orme of the Utah Court of Appeals. In addition to living and working in Madrid, Spain, Lewis has traveled extensively through Mexico and Central America, and speaks fluent Spanish. |
