Lewis M. Taffer is an independent management consultant with an extensive background in marketing and general management.
Prior to establishing his consulting practice, Taffer was Executive Vice President, Acquisition Marketing at America Online, a position in which he was responsible for the strategic direction, development, and implementation of customer acquisition efforts for AOL.
Prior to joining AOL, Taffer spent more than two decades at American Express in a series of key marketing, business development and general management positions. He headed the American Express Gold Card in the early 1990's, managed American Express's Card relationships with the largest airline, hotel, retailing, restaurant and entertainment companies in the U.S., launched the Membership Rewards Program and developed ShopAmex, an online shopping portal for Amex Cardmembers that is powered by InfoSpace.
An attorney by training, Taffer began his career as a legal aid lawyer in Pittsburgh. He thereafter served as Assistant Counsel to the Senate Banking Committee in Washington, D.C., where he authored several important federal statutes, including the Electronic Funds Transfer Act.
Taffer received a B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh, and a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School. He serves on the Board of Directors of several trade and charitable organizations. |
