Professor Benet is a world authority on pharmacokinetics and drug delivery. He is a co-founder of OxoN Medica, Inc. He also founded AvMax, Inc, a South San Francisco based drug delivery company where he is the Chairman. He is the Professor and former Chairman of the Department of Biopharmaceutical Sciences, University of California San Francisco. He is the former President of the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy and the founder and first President of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Professor Benet has served the FDA as the member of the FDA Science Board, the FDA Pharmaceutical Sciences Advisory Committee and former Chair of the FDA Expert Panel on Individual Bioequivalence. He is a Board member, Scientific Advisory Board Member or consultant to more than 20 pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, and the recipient of numerous awards, most notably, The AAPS Distinguished Service Award, The APhA Takeru Higuchi Research Prize, The AAPS Wurster Research Award in Pharmaceutics. He is also the recipient of five honorary doctorates. Professor Benet has a PhD from the University of California San Francisco. |
