Leonard Waverman is a director in LECG's London office and professor and chair of the Department of Economics at the London Business School (LBS). His most cited paper is "Telecommunications Infrastructure and Economic Development: A Simultaneous Approach" with Lars Hendrik Roeller, American Economic Review, September 2001. A recent paper is "The Effects of Public Ownership and Regulatory Independence on Interconnect Rates in EU Telecommunications" joint with Geoff Edwards. Current research is on the impact of telecoms and computing on economic growth and productivity.
At London Business School, Professor Waverman teaches MBA courses in Microeconomics, The Analysis of Industry and Competition as well as Telecoms Economics. He teaches in LBS's Centre for Management Development and directs the Vodafone Executive Program 'Strategy Into Action.' He also directs the London Business School's Centre for the Network Economy. He sits on LBS's Management Board.
Dr. Waverman is a non-executive Board member of the UK's energy regulator: GEMA the Gas and Electricity Market Authority. Professor Waverman was on the Advisory Committee Introducing Competition in Ontario's Electricity system (1995-1996), a part-time Board Member of the Ontario Energy Board, as well as of the Ontario Telephone Service Commission, and a member of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) for 6 years. He is a Fellow of the Columbia Institute for Tele-Information, Columbia University and a Fellow of Trinity College, University of Toronto.
Professor Waverman has consulted on anti-trust and regulatory matters for over 30 years. He has presented analysis for many clients for example, Schneider Electric before the European Commission and the Court of First Instance in their bid to purchase Legrand.
Professor Waverman is a citizen of Canada and France. He has received the honour of Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Palmes Academiques of the Government of France. |
