Leo Cole is vice president of marketing for Websense Inc. With extensive background in the enterprise security arena Cole brings to the company over 25 years of experience in technology marketing with both strategic and hands-on experience in a broad range of marketing functions. Cole is responsible for all aspects of Websense's global marketing activities including setting strategy and driving the product management product marketing channel marketing marketing communications and public relations functions.
A 25-year veteran of International Business Machines (IBM) Cole brings to Websense significant strengths in organizational leadership including marketing product management product development and strategic alliance management. He has a proven track record in defining and building new markets as well as successfully managing existing businesses.
While manager of systems management strategy for IBM he identified the opportunity to acquire Tivoli and served as a key member on the IBM acquisition team. Upon completion of the acquisition Cole went on to join Tivoli in 1996 taking on increasing responsibilities during his eight years at the company. His first role with the organization was director of product development. He was elevated to various executive positions in Tivoli including product management strategic alliances and market strategy. During his tenure the company grew from $50 million to nearly $2 billion.
Cole began his career with IBM as a manager of product development. He was selected to define and manage new business opportunities as well as serving in various management roles including engineering systems architecture strategy and planning and systems management strategy.
Cole earned his B.S. in computer science from Syracuse University and holds an MBA from the University of Tennessee Knoxville. |
