Mr. Lauer has served as chief operating officer of Sprint Nextel Corp. since the merger of the two companies in August 2005, and in his Overland Park, Kansas-based position he directs Sprint Nextel's operations to deliver converged media and communications products and services to consumers. Prior to the merger, he served as president and chief operating officer of Sprint Corp. since September 2003. A Sprint executive since 1998, Mr. Lauer has also been president of several Sprint units, including Sprint PCS, the Global Markets Division, Sprint Business, and the Consumer Services Group. Before joining Sprint, he served three years as president and chief executive officer of Bell Atlantic in New Jersey. A director of VeriSign Inc., Mr. Lauer received a Bachelor of Science degree in managerial economics from the University of California - San Diego. |
