She also has significant experience with complex commercial litigation. Her involvement in the In re Tyco Int’l Ltd. Securities Litigation, MDL No. 02-1335-PB, helped recover an aggregate settlement of $3.2 billion. At Rutgers, Ms. Smith majored in French and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Sigma Iota. As a graduate student, she studied French literature and film and spent a year in France working as an assistant English teacher. Ms. Smith taught French at Rutgers and at the University of Iowa prior to law school. During law school, Ms. Smith served as the Acquisitions Editor for the Cornell Journal of Law and Public Policy and was a member of the Cornell Moot Court Board. She was a finalist in the Cuccia Cup Moot Court Competition and received a CALI Award for Outstanding Achievement for her work in Cornell’s Legal Aid Clinic. She also was active in a number of student organizations.Prior to joining Milberg Weiss, Ms. Smith worked at large law firms in New York and New Jersey.
