Professional Experience
Lee co-founded Galt & Company, now a Huron Consulting Group Practice, which has been responsible for some of the more notable Fortune 100 corporate revitalizations in recent years. Lee also held a partner position with Marakon Associates and previously he was an industry economic analyst with the Central Intelligence Agency in Washington, D.C.
Advised President and CFO of North America division of leading global consumer products (food & beverage) company on internal and competitor economics and strategic growth agenda. Developed and helped execute fundamentally different marketing and distribution strategy for major customer channel segment.
Advised CEO and business unit presidents of leading global personal care products company on optimal strategies for each global region for largest and most profitable business. Developed growth ideas, priorities and plan to help CEO refocus investment, leading to new category entry and acquisitions. Identified critical changes to organization and management processes to achieve value growth ambitions.
Advised CFO of leading global telecommunications equipment supplier evaluate existing and pipeline products to decide where to concentrate resources and which businesses to exit. Advised CEO and top eight executives of leading North America forest & paper products company on restructuring underperforming portfolio and setting a new direction for the company. Led development of a new strategy for the company's largest paper business, changing the customer mix, product offering, merchandising and pricing strategy.
Advised CEO of leading regional bank on new strategies for the credit card business; work changed the target customers, products and marketing strategies, and also led to major acquisition of key competitor, adding $200M in shareholder value for client bank after announcement.
Advised COO of major investment bank on retail brokerage business and developed new profitable growth opportunities which were part of $3B+ in value improvement opportunities identified.
Advised leading global food & beverage consumer products company on new strategies for multitude of product categories including ice cream, distilled spirits, and wine. Work resulted in divestiture of low-end wines and changes in brand positioning, advertising themes, marketing and pricing to deliver positive earnings growth and reverse a 3-5 year decline.
Advised CEO and President of major U.S. pharmaceutical company on new regional manufacturing strategy for South America that lowered manufacturing costs by 30%. Identified acquisition and joint venture candidates, leading to merger of client company with major industry competitor.
