Leah J. Won is an associate in the San Ramon office. Her practice primarily focuses on special education, student, and local government law. Prior to joining Lozano Smith, Ms. Won was an associate with Meyers Nave, where she provided advice on a full range of legal issues encountered by California cities and special districts, including the Ralph M. Brown Act, the Public Records Act, legal ethics and conflicts, municipal governance and finance, and land use. As a summer associate with Caplan and Earnest LLC, she assisted public school districts with a variety of legal matters, including real property disputes, employment issues, school board policy revisions and special education compliance. Ms. Won also served as a legal intern for the Tucson Unified School District, where she covered topics ranging from student issues to bilingual education. A skilled trainer, Ms. Won conducts workshops for public officials and employees on a variety of topics including legal ethics, open meeting law and public records law.
In addition to her work as an attorney, Ms. Won taught first and second grade in the Alum Rock Union Elementary School District as a Teach For America corps member.
Ms. Won received her J.D. from the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law, where she was a winner of the Brown v. Board of Education Writing Competition with her school finance paper entitled "Providing a General and Uniform School System: Arizona's Attempt to Balance Equal Protection with Local Control." She earned a B.A. in Public Policy with an emphasis in Education from Stanford University. |
