Lazar Raynal is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and a member of the Firm's Trial Department. He is co-chair of the Firm's Trust & Estate Controversy practice. In addition to his fiduciary litigation work in that role, his practice includes complex commercial lawsuits, internal investigations for large companies, criminal defense and insurance litigation. He routinely assists clients in strategic planning issues and negotiating, mediating and resolving significant disputes.
Recently named to American Lawyer's 2007 "Fab Fifty Young Litigators," Lazar has represented many foreign and U.S. companies in significant commercial lawsuits, primarily involving unfair business practices, fraud, fiduciary issues and insurance. He has represented clients in various state and federal trial and appellate courts and before dozens of arbitration panels throughout the United States. Certain of his cases, including Pritzker v. Pritzker, have been widely covered by the national and local media.
Lazar is a member of the bars of the State of Illinois, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern District of Illinois and the Eastern District of Wisconsin, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third, Seventh and Tenth Circuits, and the Supreme Court of the United States. He also is a member of the Federal Defender Program Panel for the Northern District of Illinois, for which he performs pro bono services. Lazar has received the highest rating of "AV" from the independent Martindale-Hubbell attorney rating system.
Lazar completed the Concannon Programme of International Law at the University of Notre Dame in London, England, and received his J.D. from Notre Dame Law School.
