Lawrence Lederman is Of Counsel in the Firm's New York office, and is chairman of the Firm's international corporate practice.
Prior to joining Milbank, Mr. Lederman was a partner at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz. As one of the most active corporate and mergers and acquisitions lawyers in the country, he helped shape many of the major corporate legal developments that have occurred over the past twenty years. He currently teaches corporate law at New York University School of Law, where he has been an Adjunct Professor of law since 1974. He has been Chairman of the Practicing Law Institute Program on Corporate Restructuring. In 2005 he became Adjunct Professor at New York Law School. Mr. Lederman is the author of a book, Tombstones: A Lawyer's Tales from the Takeover Decades, which was published in March 1992 by Farrar, Straus and Giroux. Mr. Lederman graduated from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York and received his LL.B. from New York University, where he was an Editor of the Law Review, a member of Order of the Coif and a John Norton Pomeroy Scholar. From 1966 to 1967, he served as a law clerk for Chief Justice Roger J. Traynor, California Supreme Court. He is a member of the Panel of Arbitrators of the American Arbitration Association. He is Chairman of the Board of Phoenix House Development Foundation Inc. since 1981, a Director of The National Mentoring Partnership, Incorporated, since 1993, a Director of The New York Botanical Garden since 1996 and previously served as a Director of The American Chess Foundation. |
