Larry combines his business and law backgrounds to provide strategic, business-focused legal counsel to various private and public companies, capital market entities and not for profit corporations. His areas of emphasis include corporate, commercial and general business law. Larry’s extensive background also includes complex mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures, capital market and financing transactions, investment and merchant banking, licensing, distribution management, and corporate governance and control. Larry has structured and implemented various not-for-profit governance and strategic platforms, including coordination of related economic and real estate development, improvement district initiatives and funding programs. Larry also has facilitated numerous international acquisitions, investments, joint ventures and business arrangements, particularly in Western and Eastern Europe, Mexico, South America and Asia. He has supervised the restructure and workout of numerous corporate and partnership entities, involving substantial restructuring of debt, assets, equity, operations and management, and the purchase and sale of businesses in and out of bankruptcy proceedings. Larry serves on a number of boards and advisory counsels and is secretary of several private and public companies, foundations and not-for-profit entities. He is on the executive committee of the board of directors of University Circle, Inc. and serves as vice-chair of the board of trustees of The Diversity Center (formerly NCCJ). He is also chairman and president of The Gordon Square Arts District. Larry has served as chair and currently is chairman emeritus of the board of Parkworks, Inc. He is a member of the board of directors of The Deaconess Community Foundation and Agilysys Foundation and is a director and president of the RJF Foundation. Prior to his law career, Larry was an officer of Central National Bank, now Key Bank, for almost a decade, serving in the commercial lending, credit administration, marketing and retail operations of the bank. Larry is a member of the American, Ohio and Cleveland Bar Associations as well as the Turnaround Management Association. Larry completed courses for an MBA at Cleveland State University prior to earning his law degree. He joined Calfee in 1978 and became a partner in 1986. He has been a member of the firm’s executive committee since 1995 and a member of its Management Committee since 2005. |
