Mr. Kugelman was appointed to the Board of Directors of Valeant Pharmaceuticals International in October 2002. As chief executive of Coventry Healthcare from 1995 to 1996, Mr. Kugelman was responsible for the general management and repositioning of the company. He has served as a member of Coventry's Board of Directors since 1992, and is currently the chairman of the Audit Committee. Prior to Coventry Healthcare, Mr. Kugelman was the Executive Vice President of American Medical International, where he had responsibility for the company's managed care strategy nationwide. Mr. Kugelman has also served as chief executive officer and director for Health Plan of America (1986-1992), United Medical Plan, Inc. (1983-1986) and Cigna Healthcare of California (1980-1983), where he successfully turned those businesses around. Currently, Mr. Kugelman is a member of the Board of Directors for Arcadian Management Services, Inc. Mr. Kugelman received a bachelor of arts degree from St. John's University in 1966. He also earned a master of management degree from the Owen Graduate School of Management of Vanderbilt University and a master of arts degree from the University of Ulster.
