Lawrence F. Haislip is a member of the firm’s Real Estate practice group, and concentrates his practice in the representation of owners, developers, borrowers and lenders in all aspects of commercial real estate transactions, including zoning and land use issues; land development; sales and acquisitions; land acquisition, development and construction financing transactions; sale-leaseback transactions; real property tax appeals; condominiums, homeowner’s associations and planned unit developments; and the organization and operation of corporations, partnerships, business trusts and limited liability companies for real estate related purposes. He has extensive experience in commercial leasing, as well as in all aspects of title insurance as applied to commercial real estate acquisition and financing transactions. Mr. Haislip has worked on many significant commercial real estate transactions throughout Maryland. He was involved in the purchase and sale and issuance of title insurance with respect to all of the Maryland real property holdings of Genstar Stone Products Company consisting of over 150 separate parcels -- to British Redlands, P.L.C. In Baltimore City, he represented Provident Bank of Maryland in the negotiation of a long-term ground lease of property to Mercy Medical Center, Inc., for development of Mercy’s new ambulatory care center and medical office and parking facility. In Frederick County Mr. Haislip has represented Crown American Financing Partnership in two successive and successful real property appeals with respect to the company’s Francis Scott Key Mall, one of the largest taxable parcels in that county. In Carroll and Baltimore counties, Mr. Haislip has represented Black & Decker (U.S.) Inc. in the sale of its Hampstead, Maryland, manufacturing facilities and in the redevelopment of The Black & Decker Corporation’s corporate headquarters in Towson, Maryland. He represented a subsidiary of the General Electric Company in connection with a long-term lease of its 1.4 million-square-foot East Coast distribution center in North East, Maryland, in one of the largest lease transactions in Cecil County’s history. Mr. Haislip was counsel to the master developer of its planned community of White Marsh, Maryland and is also counsel to the Bainbridge Development Corporation in connection with the redevelopment of the 1,200-acre former U.S. Naval Training Center in Bainbridge, Maryland, into a planned mixed-use community. Mr. Haislip also has extensive experience in structuring tax-deductible conservation easements, and is a director of The Manor Conservancy, Inc., which is dedicated to rural preservation in the area of My Lady’s Manor, in Northern Baltimore County and North West Harford County, Maryland. Before beginning the private practice of law, Mr. Haislip served as law clerk to the Honorable H. Kemp MacDaniel of the Court of Special Appeals of Maryland. He has also held a position as an instructor at the University of Maryland's University College, where he lectured on real property.
