Description of Practice:
Larry is a partner in our Orange County office whose practice focuses on business and commercial litigation, primarily in the real estate industry. His clients include developers, institutional lenders, mortgage companies, investment service firms, and a major pharmaceutical distributor. With more than 35 years of experience as a litigator, Larry offers his clients extensive experience and skill in a broad range of matters, including business torts, construction defects, partnership dissolutions, and general business. In matters of attorney professional representation, Larry has handled matters regarding legal malpractice, abuse of process, malicious prosecution, rules of professional conduct, conflicts of interest, and breach of fiduciary duty.
Prior to joining Allen Matkins, Larry was a partner in the law firm of Musick, Peeler & Garrett in Los Angeles, where his practice focused on antitrust and securities litigation and defense of legal malpractice suits.
Larry is a member of the American Bar Association and the Orange County Bar Association.

Lead counsel for largest U.S. healthcare system in highly contested 3 ½ week bench trial which resulted in favorable judgment.
Lead counsel in high risk litigation for title company involving RICO and fraud claims in connection with an alleged scheme to obtain sham loans from lenders which are seeking $60 MM in compensatory damages in addition to punitive damages.
Achieved a successful settlement in complex shareholder derivative action which was heavily litigated with buyout of minority shareholders' interests (approximately 32%) for approximately $10MM.
Lead co-counsel in representation of Fortune 50 company in dispute regarding breach of contract, interference with contract, and trade secret/unfair competition claims.
Successfully defended partner in complex partnership dispute in $100 million fraud lawsuit involving over 20 separate partnerships
Lead counsel in successful civil RICO/fraud claims against major banking institution.
Successfully represented large retailer in defending against a multi-million dollar breach of lease claim
Successfully represented purchaser of large commercial property in lawsuit against seller for breach of contract and fraud.
Successfully represented large and small law firms on variety of claims including, without limitation, legal malpractice, abuse of process, malicious prosecution, rules of professional conduct, conflicts of interest, and breach of fiduciary duty.
Successfully represented major real estate developer in $70 million partnership dispute.
Successfully prosecuted action for major hospital chain involving multi-million dollar contract dispute.
Educational History:
Mr. Lewis obtained his B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley in 1968 where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa and his J.D. from Boalt Hall in 1972. |
