Laurent Ribardière, founder and president of 4D SA, oversees the management of all of 4D SA’s subsidiaries. Laurent is the majority shareholder of the parent company and serves as chairman of the board of 4D, Inc. Laurent divides his time between Europe and the United States. In 1983, he was a student when he wrote his first file manager software called ABC Base. A year later, he established the company Analyses Conseils Informations (ACI) with the help of former journalist Marylene Delbourg-Delphis to publish it. In 1985, Laurent created the first entirely graphical RDBMS for personal computers 4D. Due to 4D’s success, Laurent expanded the company from 1987 - 1991 to include subsidiaries first in Silicon Valley, (where the first international version of 4D was launched) and then successively in Germany, the United Kingdom, Sweden and Japan. Laurent spearheaded the company’s continued growth by developing a cross-platform product, and incorporating emerging technologies into the 4D product suite. |
