Laureen DeBuono is currently Chief Financial Officer of Thermage, Inc. She is a member of the board of directors of VISX, Inc., a $150M revenue public vision correction company and chair of its audit committee. Until January 2004, Ms. DeBuono also served on the board of directors of Invivo, Inc., a public patient safety monitoring company (acquired at a substantial premium by IMG, Inc.) and served as chair of the board's audit committee. Prior to Thermage, Ms. DeBuono was a management and financial consultant from 2000 to early 2004 for several companies. In 2003 she was retained by Restoration Hardware, Inc., a $400M revenue public hard goods company, to restructure their financial operations after a series of financial restatements in prior years. From 2001 to early 2003, she was the consulting EVP, CFO of Critical Path, Inc., a $100M revenue public enterprise software company, where she restructured the finances and operations of the company, also after a series of financial restatements in prior years. Prior to Critical Path, Ms. DeBuono was the CFO and COO of more.com, an Internet health products retailer and, from 1998 through 1999, she was the EVP, CFO and COO of ReSound, Inc., a public hearing device and technology company. Ms. DeBuono was instrumental in restructuring the finances and operations of Resound, and in negotiating the sale of the company to GN Great Nordic in 1999.
From 1991 to early 1998, Ms. DeBuono was the EVP for Administration and General Counsel of Nellcor Puritan Bennett, a $1B public medical device company. She was instrumental in building the revenue base of the company through leading several major acquisitions, and also led the negotiations to sell the company to Mallinkcrodt, Inc. in 1997 for a substantial premium. Prior to Nellcor, Ms. DeBuono served as corporate counsel at The Clorox Company (1987-1991) and at Varian Associates, Inc. (1983-1987).
Ms. DeBuono is a frequent lecturer on mergers and acquisitions, financial restructuring and corporate governance practices. She holds a BA from Duke University (Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa), a MA from Stanford University, and a JD from the New York University School of Law. |
