Laura Schumacher is senior vice president, secretary and general counsel. Schumacher joined Abbott in 1990 as an attorney in the Litigation Department. She has held various positions within the Litigation Department, and in 2000, she was appointed divisional vice president, Litigation. In that position, she was responsible for the management and supervision of all litigation and disputes involving the company on a worldwide basis. In 2003, she became vice president, secretary and deputy general counsel. She assumed her current role in 2005.
Prior to joining Abbott, Schumacher was an associate attorney with the law firm Schiff, Hardin & Waite in Chicago.
Schumacher is on the board of directors for the Chicago Children's Museum, the Clara Abbott Foundation, and a member of the Economic Club of Chicago and Chicago Network.
She graduated with a degree in business administration/marketing from the University of Notre Dame in 1985 and with a juris doctorate from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 1988. |
