With over 25 years of cable industry experience, Larry Wangberg, served as TechTV's chairman and chief executive officer until July 2002. Prior to joining TechTV (formerly ZDTV) in August 1997, Wangberg was chairman and CEO of StarSight Telecast, Inc., an interactive program guide company, where he directed the company’s growth in cable, satellite, consumer electronics, and licensing. Upon turning this public company around, he led the merger of StarSight into Gemstar International.
Before his work with StarSight Telecast, Wangberg served as chairman and CEO of Times Mirror Cable Television and senior vice president of the parent Times Mirror Co. Earlier he was president and chief operating officer of Warner Amex Cable’s Metro Division, which included all two-way interactive cable systems utilizing Qube technology in major cities.
In addition to serving on the board of Autodesk, Wangberg sits on the boards of Charter Communications and ADC Telecommunications. He has also held posts as chairman of the National Cable Television Association and the Kaitz Foundation, vice chairman of the National Academy of Cable Programming, and director at Cable Labs and C-Span. |
