Larry L. Lothringer, M.D. is a highly skilled opthalmoligist and optometrist, specializing in refractive surgery. He has conducted extensive research on corneal lens implant and laser surgery and has received international recognition for his work.
Currently, Dr. Lothringer is the Medical Director of the Center for Corrective Eye Surgery in San Antonio, Texas.
Summit Technology Inc., one of the premiere manufacturers of Excimer Laser, selected Dr. Lothringer to participate in an elite group of physicians as a Visionary doctor for the Summit Technology International Laser User Group. He was one of the first ophthalmologists to carry out the innovative Excimer Laser Surgery for nearsightedness and has trained over 50 ophthalmologists world-wide on the procedure. He is recognized as one of the leading eye surgeons in Texas and lectures nationally as an expert on all areas of eye surgery.
Dr. Lothringer has enjoyed a long-term, successful relationship with the medical community since 1981, as evidenced by the many hospital affiliations he maintains. He holds staff privileges at Baptist Medical Center, Southwest Baptist Hospital, Surgicare of Central San Antonio, Metropolitan Hospital, Santa Rosa Medical Center, Southwest General Hospital and Tri-City Community Hospital in Jourdanton. He serves as associate Professor-Ophthalmic Surgery for the Audie Murphy Veteran’s Hospital, Residency Training Program at the UTHSC Department of Ophthalmology, San Antonio. In the mid 1990’s Dr. Lothringer was Medical Laser Safety Director at the Methodist Surgicenter and at United Surgeons of San Antonio. He also served as Secretary-Treasurer for United Surgeons.
Dr. Lothringer is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, The San Antonio Society of Ophthalmology, The American Society of Contemporary Ophthalmology, The Bexar County Medical Society, The Texas Medical Association, The American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the American College of Eye Surgeons. He also is an advisor to the San Antonio Eye Bank and serves on the Advisory Panel for the Medical Gazette Newspaper Editorial board.
He graduated from both The University of Houston and the College of Optometry in Houston and received his medical degree from Baylor college of Medicine, Houston, Texas. He completed his ophthalmic residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and is Board qualified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Lothringer and his wife Kathleen have two children and live in San Antonio. |
