Lane has been with ESI since 1998, beginning in data entry and eventually leading ESI's Resume Services dept. Next she was promoted to Tech Services Supervisor and managed and trained new Recruiters, for two years. In 2001, she moved into new business development and marketing. Though it was a tough year, and "like selling sand in the desert," Lane got the hang of it and today she is in charge of all new business development and marketing strategy, including promotion, contract negotiation, tradeshows, and website development. About this time period, she says: "It was a tough couple of years. I'd call and ask if a company was hiring, and they'd just laugh. But by focusing on our core competencies in telecom and wireless recruiting, we still managed to expand, and we are stronger today than we've ever been."When you call to find out more about Electronic Search's recruitment services, Lane will be the friendly voice answering all your questions. With a background in recruiting, she understands both points of view; the employer seeking to hire, and the candidate looking for that ideal opportunity. As for her personal philosophy, she has this to say: "I am always optimistic about a company's hiring problems. They tell me that they've had a position open for a year, and everybody is giving up on it. Where they see a problem, I see a solution. I believe in our consultative model; recruiting firms and their clients need to have collaborative business relationships and direct communication. This is how problems are isolated and solved. Clicking and downloading resumes does not solve a problem, and unfortunately this is what most of the industry does. But it is always more communication, more sharing of information, which will get to the heart of the issue. Websites don't solve problems - people do."Lane's nickname around the office is "Xena." |
