One of Managed Objects' original employees, Kurt Westerfeld joined the company in 1998, becoming chief technology officer in September 2002. He leads the development and implementation of Managed Objects's long-term technical strategy, ensuring that it continues to lead the market. Kurt has spent his career developing a range of commercial software products, from large-scale enterprise management solutions to off-the-shelf products. Before joining Managed Objects, he was a senior product developer for Digital Now, a company specializing in large-scale solutions for the photo-finishing industry. While there, he developed an end-user application that gave consumers a way to organize their photos electronically. It was OEM-ed by Broderbund and bundled in CD-ROM packages by Hewlett-Packard. Millions of copies are still in use. Prior to Digital Now, Kurt served as the vice president of technology for Stardock Systems, a developer of desktop productivity and entertainment solutions. He was the original author of the company's Object Desktop software. Built for the OS/2 platform, this software garnered numerous industry awards and critical acclaim. It is still available today in a Windows edition.Kurt has also worked for Oracle, where he developed document imaging products, and IBM, where he created plant floor automation software. He has a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Maryland at College Park. |
