A decade of experience working with university technology transfer professionals and university innovators, including the University of Kentucky Research Foundation, Iowa State University Research Foundation, University of Iowa Research Foundation, University of Colorado, Colorado State University Research Foundation, University of Maryland, Kansas State University Research Foundation, University of New Mexico, Indiana University and the University of Utah, primarily writing utility and plant patents in applied biosciences, such as new crops, bio-fuels, pharmaceuticals, assays, vaccines and veterinary products.
As founder and manager of award-winning Bingham Hill Cheese Company, wrote and implemented HACCP plan and managed all legal matters, including product liability, labeling, bioterrorist act reporting requirements, trade secret/non-compete policy contracts and enforcement, trademarks, product recall procedures, interstate shipping, USFDA inspections, worker's compensation and employment law.
As sole in-house counsel at start-up Cortech, Inc., managed the patent portfolio and other legal matters, including human resources, securities and USFDA regulatory issues.
Served as in-house counsel at Eli Lilly & Company, authoring second-generation serotonin-reuptake inhibitors and numerous other central nervous system drugs, and drafting many research, confidentiality and material transfer agreements.
