Kristina M. Johnson has been a Director of AES since April 2004. Dr. Johnson is the chief academic and administrative officer (Dean) of the Edmund T. Pratt, Jr., School of Engineering at Duke University (Duke). She joined Duke in July 1999. Prior to joining Duke, Dr. Johnson served on the faculty at the University of Colorado at Boulder, from 1985 1999 as a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and as a co founder and Director (1993 1997) of the National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center for Optoelectronic Computing Systems Center. Dr. Johnson received her BS with distinction, MS and PhD from Stanford University in Electrical Engineering. She is an expert in liquid crystal electro optics and has over forty patents or patents pending in this field. Dr. Johnson currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Minerals Technologies, Inc., Guidant Corporation, and Nortel. Dr. Johnson serves on the Compensation Committee and the Environment, Safety and Technology Committee of the Board. The Board has determined that Dr. Johnson meets the standards of independence established by the NYSE and the Sarbanes Oxley Act. |
