Kristin Mihelic practices in the firm's Bankruptcy and Commercial Litigation Departments. Ms. Mihelic has extensive experience representing creditors, lenders, debtors, and committees in Chapter 11 cases, bankruptcy litigation, workouts, insurance insolvency proceedings and appeals. Her commercial litigation practice includes creditors' rights, shareholder disputes, and reinsurance matters. Ms. Mihelic's clients include Fortune 500 companies, lending institutions, private equity groups, landlords, and other companies. Ms. Mihelic has litigated in some of the largest bankruptcies, including Kmart, Ames Merchandising Corporation, Hechinger Investment Corporation, FINOVA, United, marchFirst, Lodgian, Teleglobe Communications Corporation, TWA post-confirmation estate, Contifinancial Corporation, Anicom, Olympus Healthcare Group, Eagle Foods Center, Houlihan's, WorldCom, Trailmobile Trailer, Bangor & Aroostock Railroad Company, Purely Cotton, RHC Spacemaster, Galvex Holdings, IT Group, Factory 2-U Stores, Chapco Carton Company, Sun America, Integra, Zeta Consumer Products, Ginko, Ltd., Haymond Napoli & Diamond, Continental Paper Box Company and Fleming Companies. In addition to her bankruptcy practice, Ms. Mihelic represents companies and individuals in commercial litigation disputes in State and Federal Courts, including contract litigation, shareholder disputes, and insurance coverage matters. Prior to private law practice, Ms. Mihelic was a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Fred A. Geiger (Ret.) of the Illinois Appellate Court. She received her J.D. from Boston University School of Law and her B.A. from Northwestern University. She has served as adjunct professor at The John Marshall Law School in Chicago. Ms. Mihelic has published and spoken extensively on secured lending and commercial law topics. Ms. Mihelic is a member of the Turnaround Management Association, American Bankruptcy Institute, and American Inn of Courts. She serves as Legal Counsel to the Philadelphia Federation of Young Republicans and is a member of the Pennsylvania Future Fund and Lawyers for Rudy. She is active in Northwestern University alumni groups and activities, in which she has held several leadership positions, including The Board of Directors of the Northwestern University Alumni Club of Philadelphia, Inc., and chair of her 10th year class reunion. She enjoys adventure travel across the globe, skiing, kayaking, and trekking. Her other interests include writing, participating in church choir, and foreign policy. |
