Kristi is a graduate of the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon. During naturopathic medical school, she assisted Dr. Carolyn McMakin at the Portland Fibromyalgia and Myofacial Pain Clinic, where she studied the use of Frequency Specific Microcurrent Therapy in the treatment of chronic pain disorders. In 1997 she founded the Center of Natural Healing Arts, which has clinic sites in Minnesota providing various modalities of natural health care in an integrated clinic environment. Dr. Hughes is also a graduate of the Applied Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice course and is involved in ongoing research with the Functional Medicine Research Center in Gig Harbor, Washington.
Beyond these noteworthy accomplishments, Dr. Hughes is one of the instructors in the FirstLine Therapy Certification Program, helping clinics integrate lifestyle education programs into their list of therapeutic modalities. In addition to her extensive clinical practice and lecturing experience, Dr. Hughes has served as the Secretary of the Minnesota Association of Naturopathic Physicians, addressing the political needs of naturopathic medicine. |
