Kristen Orton began her career in advertising/marketing at Disneyland, where she worked while getting a degree in English (Creative Writing.) Within a short time she was in charge of 30-80 people at a time, helping to run private parties and new attraction openings. She also co-created, edited, and co-wrote the Fantasyland Underground Newsletter, with a bi-weekly distribution of over 400 copies. She considers her time at The Park to have been a 6-year intensive workshop, not only in customer service, but also in mass marketing, because, as she says, Let s face it, that place knows how to sell. She left the Magic Kingdom for the glitz, glamour, and really good breakfasts of Hollywood, starting as a Casting Assistant, but soon finding her way to L.A. Models. In her 8 years with L.A. Models, she quickly went from assistant to SAG Franchised Agent to the Director of Print, Youth Division. As a kids agent (think Swimming with Sharks meets Mary Poppins,) she became a media expert in the realm of television commercials, radio spots, and print advertisements. Her role was that of salesperson and negotiator; during her years as Youth Print Director, she negotiated thousands of contracts, including one record coup which garnered her young client a six-figure paycheck for 3 days work. Her ability to maintain positive, friendly relationships while negotiating top-dollar rates and usage bonuses for her clients made the LA Models Youth Print Division one of the top three youth model reps in Los Angeles/Hollywood. Kristen left Hollywood and moved to Phoenix to buy a house, and soon thereafter became a part of the STG Media family as Vice President of Media Relations. In less than one year under Kristen s leadership, STG Media s newspaper and magazine publication base increased by over 1,700. Her media relationships and negotiating skills have proven invaluable, and STG Media thanks the overblown Los Angeles real estate market daily. In January 2007, Kristen became STG s Chief Operations Officer. Her working knowledge of media and advertising has catapulted STG into wider-reaching arenas, expanding STG Media s Client Services and regularly redefining the term Full Service Agency. Both STG and its clientele continue to benefit from her forward thinking and innovation. In her spare time, Kristen likes to attend Metallica concerts. |
