Koichiro Taniyama is a Director focused on Japanese buyout opportunities primarily in the healthcare and industrial sectors. He is based in Tokyo.
Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Taniyama was an Assistant Vice President at The Industrial Bank of Japan (now Mizuho Corporate Bank). At Industrial Bank of Japan, he worked in the Financial Institutions Department in Tokyo covering one of the largest institutional investors in Japan as well as spent three years in Indonesia during the Asian financial crisis engaging in corporate finance and currency derivatives.
Since joining Carlyle in 2001, he has been involved in the firm’s investment in Asahi Securities, Colin Medical Technology and Rhythm Corporation.
Mr. Taniyama received his B.A in economics from Waseda University and his M.B.A from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
