Klaus Schmidt-Hebbel Dunker has been the Manager of Economic Research since 1996.
He holds a PhD in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a master’s degree in economics and commerce from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, and a degree from the Diplomvolkswirt, Germany. Before his arrival at the Central Bank of Chile, he worked as the main economist in the research department at the World Bank (1988 - 1996).
Mr. Schmidt-Hebbel is or has been a professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of Santiago, Chile, ILADES-Georgetown University, University of Georgetown and University of Chile. He has also worked as a consultant to governments and international organizations. He has done research and published extensively on monetary theory, international finance and economic development. He is co-editor of two economic journals. |
