Mr. Odian is a FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER) in structures, fatigue and damage tolerance who has overseen the certification of many projects conforming to both civil and military requirements. Mr. Odian supervised the development of the first Structural Supplemental Inspection Program for converted freighter aircraft approved by the FAA under the aging aircraft program. Under Mr. Odian s guidance SIE has received three STC s for floor modifications on converted freighter aircraft to bring them into compliance with FAA requirements. In addition, Mr. Odian oversaw the wing life extension programs developed by SIE for the Beechcraft 99 series and DH-6-300 Twin Otter aircraft including certification by both the FAA and Air Transport Canada. Mr. Odian has extensive experience in stress, fatigue and damage tolerance analyses for a variety of narrow and wide body aircraft. This includes developing alternate means of compliance for FAA mandated changes to critical Boeing 727, 737 and 747 lap splices and repair and inspection schemes and design changes for SIE clients existing cargo door modifications that were found deficient in operation and which had resulted in FAA mandated action. As the Chief Engineer at Structural Integrity Engineering, Mr. Odian has primary technical responsibility for all aspects of certification, design, structural analysis, dynamics, fatigue, damage tolerance and loads. Prior to joining SIE, Mr. Odian was responsible for structures and structural dynamics certification of satellites for the Department of Defense and NASA at TRW Space Systems. Mr. Odian holds Bachelor and Master of Science Degrees in Structural Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). |
