King L. Wong has extensive experience in preparing and/or prosecuting patent applications, including re-examinations and reissues, dealing with pharmaceuticals, chemicals, neutraceuticals, biotechnology, diagnostics, biologics such as vaccines, cosmetics, automotive parts, fuel cells and new varieties of plants both in the United States and abroad. He has managed worldwide patent application portfolios for clients. He has provided freedom-to-operate, invalidity and patentability opinions related to U.S. patents in the areas of pharmaceuticals, chemicals, biotechnology and fuel cells. He has advised clients, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to start-ups, in various issues dealing with patent law.
Dr. Wong represented the University of Houston Law Center in a Giles Sutherland Rich Moot Court Competition and won an Intellectual Property Law Student Award from the Houston Chapter of the American Association of Corporate Counsel in 1993. He completed his LL.M. concentrating on intellectual property law at the George Washington University with a thesis titled, "Obviousness of Process Inventions." Prior to private law practices, he was a Patent Examiner for over three years in the Organic Chemistry Group of the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Dr. Wong's scientific experience includes performing laboratory research in pharmacology and toxicology and providing toxicological support for NASA in the Space Shuttle and Space Station programs. He co-authored over twenty articles published in biomedical journals. He was also a co-author of an article, entitled "Poisons and Poisoning," in the Encyclopaedia Britannica. In addition, he was a faculty member of the Graduate School of Public Health, University of Pittsburgh, where he reached the rank of Assistant Professor. |
