Kim began her career in executive search in 1983 in New York as a generalist recruiter and by 1990 she made the move into a domestic Pharmaceutical, Biotech & Medical Devices practice. In 1993 Kim continued in the same areas, but began to focus her efforts into the Emerging Markets. She managed searches in Asia, Latin America, Middle East and Europe. She continued to conduct searches in the U.S., but felt she needed to really learn other markets as well in order to become a true Global Recruiter.
In 1996 Kim was recruited by one of the top 10 Executive Search firms to run their Global Pharmaceutical, Biotech & Medical Devices practice out of Princeton, New Jersey and after a couple of years with that company she was approached by a well known London-based firm to start their U.S. division. Kim started offices for them in New York City and Princeton. The Princeton office had a heavy focus on the Pharmaceutical, Biotech and Medical Devices and the New York City office focused on the Financial Arena.
She started The Magellan Group in January 2000 and the focus of the company is to conduct Global Searches for their clients in the Pharmaceutical, Biotech and Medical Devices areas. The company also works with companies that service the industry and with the Venture Capital community. Like Magellan the explorer, The Magellan Group crosses borders throughout the world for what is considered today’s riches and that is "The Best Talent". Kim and her team work with only a handful of clients eliminating the usual hands off issues that the large search firms encounter. It is the goal of The Magellan Group to provide their clients with the solution for their domestic and international needs and to keep the number of clients in each area to a minimum. Her clients seem to appreciate the hands-on approach as she has been working with most of them for more than 5 years. |
