Mr. Childs was born in Renton, Washington in 1953. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts from St. John's College in Santa Fe, New Mexico, then attended the University of Texas School of Law, from which he obtained his J.D. in 1981. As a member of the firm since 1982, his practice has focused principally on the defense of health care professionals, lawyers, product liability cases and insurance bad faith cases. He has handled more than thirty complex jury trials in those areas. Mr. Childs is licensed to practice law in Colorado state and federal courts, and is admitted before the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Childs' other practice areas include construction law, toxic exposures and all kinds of complex commercial litigation. He has been involved in the Colorado and American Bar Associations' professional liability and insurance law committees, and with the Defense Research Institute. He has lectured dozens of times over the years on risk management and liability issues to health care residents, insurance companies, bar groups and lawyers. He has acted as an expert witness in legal malpractice cases. In 2004 he volunteered to spearhead the firm's opening of an office on the western slope of Colorado, to better serve our clients who are located there or who have insureds located there. His practice there will continue with the same focus, and will also seek to expand to cover other litigation and business needs of our clients. |
