Dr. Klauer has added to EMP significant academic and administrative experience and a strong commitment to teaching. He is residency trained and board certified in the specialty of Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Klauer completed his residency training at Charity Hospital in New Orleans where he also served as Academic Chief Resident and served on a number of committees, was involved in many organizations, and won the WIlliam J. Bradley Award for contributions to the residency program.
After residency, he went straight into academia where he assumed Assistant Residency Director and Director of Medical Student Education positions at Akron General Medical Center in Ohio. For his work there, he was awarded a Golden Apple Teacher of the Year Award. Following his time in Akron, he served as Director of a community hospital ED for three years before joining EMP at Doctors Hospital in Columbus. He received the EMRA Robert Dougherty ACEP/EMF Teaching Fellowship in 2000. Dr. Klauer also received the ACEP National Faculty Teaching Award in 2001. He is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Ohio State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and Michigan State University.
Throughout his career, he has also been active in EMS and was the previous National Section Affairs Committee Chair and the previous National Membership Committee Chair, both for two years with ACEP. He currently serves as the Audit Committee Chair for National ACEP. While at Doctors Hospital in Columbus, he served as Emergency Department Medical Director, the Chair of the Department of Hospital Based Physicians, encompassing Emergency Medicine, Anesthesiology, Radiology and Pathology and as Assistant Medical Director for Performance Improvement. He was the previous Chairperson of the National ACEP Young Physician's Section. He is the Immediate-past President of Ohio ACEP and is the managing editor of Ohio ACEP's EPIC publication. |
