Kevin Shaffer has been Chief Financial Officer of Educate, Inc. since the Company was formed in June 2003. Previously he was Vice President of Finance / Corporate Controller of Sylvan Learning Systems, Inc. where his responsibilities included management of the consolidated financial reporting process, oversight of the shared financial services, direction of the consolidated budgeting and forecasting processes, control of the capital expenditure approval process, as well as direction of the treasury and risk management functions. He joined Sylvan in June 1999.
Prior to joining Sylvan, Mr. Shaffer was a Senior Manager with Ernst & Young LLP. He served a wide variety of assurance and consulting clients in various industries. He had extensive experience in mid-market companies and the transformation of private companies into public companies through the Initial Public Offering Process.
Mr. Shaffer is a Certified public Accountant and earned his Masters degree and an Investment Certificate from Johns Hopkins University. He earned his Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting from the University of Delaware |
