Mr. Silva is chief administrative officer for MBIA Insurance Corporation. Manager of key support organizations for MBIA and its subsidiary businesses on a global basis, Mr. Silva overseas management services including: human resources, corporate administration, information resources, facilities, telecommunications and records management functions. He is a member of the EPC, the company's senior policy-making arm.
He is responsible for ensuring that MBIA has a well-developed global workforce in place to meet MBIA‘s business goals. He works with the board of directors and the chief executive officer to manage the company's key executive succession plans, compensation programs and organization design. In addition to his role as counselor and advisor to the board and to the chief executive officer, he is responsible for the integration of companies and employees made through acquisitions by MBIA.
Mr. Silva joined MBIA in 1996 from Merrill Lynch & Company, where he was first vice president and director of human resources for Global Capital Markets. He managed a one billion dollar compensation system through a global staff of 100. Merrill Lynch is a world-wide financial services company of over 40,000 employees in over 100 locations. Prior to that position, he was vice president for global human resources and development at MasterCard International. Mr. Silva also held senior positions with Pepsi Cola Co., rising to executive director of Pepsi Cola Management Institute, and held sales and marketing positions with Keebler Company.
Mr. Silva has 25 years of experience working with senior management in a variety of senior human resource, senior executive development and senior sales management positions. He has an extensive background in marketing, organization development, design of compensation and benefit systems, executive assessment and succession planning, and facilities management. He is also experienced in board composition and recruiting, board governance and board compensation.
A resident of Manhasset, Long Island, Mr. Silva holds a master’s degree in psychology from New York University and a bachelor’s degree in communications from St. John’s University. |
