Mr. Best is also the General Partner of the CleanTech Fleet Opportunity Fund, an emerging $200 million investment in ultra clean energy from animal waste, and highly efficient onsite power systems in hospitals and municipal wastewater facilities. With over 25 years of experience in energy and real estate development, Mr. Best’s forward thinking and entrepreneurial spirit has driven him to successfully develop numerous clean distributed energy systems, solar PV, combined heat and power systems, and energy efficiency projects for private, public, and institutional owners. His team has interconnected 35 discreet power plants to the public electric grid. He has developed and built projects utilizing microturbines, reciprocating engines, and solar photovoltaic technologies, and is currently investing in cutting edge bioreactor technologies. As a well-known authority on distributed generation, energy efficiency, and competitive electric issues, he has served the U.S. Department of Energy to provide peer review of public investments and microgrids. He is regularly invited to speak to many diverse organizations and has testified as an expert witness on behalf of the California Energy Commission (CEC) before the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). Mr. Best has served on several boards of energy-related companies and organizations including the California Alliance for Distributed Energy Resources (CADER) and the Energy Alliance.
