Kent Hopkins offers more than 20 years of experience in enrollment management. He consults directly with campuses in addition to training Noel-Levitz consultants. His areas of expertise include strategic enrollment planning, project management, applying emerging technologies to enrollment, and consulting for student recruitment, retention, and financial aid.
Mr. Hopkins has consulted with more than 100 two-year and four-year institutions, both public and private. His previous and current clients include Purdue University (IN), West Virginia University, University of Nevada Las Vegas, University of Nevada Reno, Delaware State University, Appalachian State University (NC), Davidson County Community College (NC), Wright State University (OH), the University of Texas at Arlington, Auburn University (AL), Utah State University, University of Northern Iowa, and universities in the University of Louisiana system. His work has helped institutions increase their enrollment, maximize revenue, and shape their classes, including:Increases of 24 percent in admits and enrolled students, 58 percent in net revenue, and 30 points on SAT averages for a flagship state university in the East. A 10.3 percent increase in admit volume and an 11.7 percent increase in first-year enrollment from fall 2004-2005 for a state university in the West. Development of strategic enrollment and annual recruitment and retention plans at the undergraduate level for a state university in the Midwest, as well as a system-driven communication plan at the graduate level. A 30 percent increase in freshman enrollment and an 11.5 percent overall enrollment increase in one year for a state university in the East.
Mr. Hopkins has also presented numerous seminars at national and regional professional development conferences.
Previous campus experience
As dean of enrollment management for the University of Toledo (OH) from 1997-1999, Mr. Hopkins doubled the number of high-ability students while increasing enrollments of students of color, transfer students, adult students, and freshman class sizes overall, along with the university’s retention rate. He also served as director of undergraduate admission at Saint Louis University (MO) where freshman enrollment and ethnic diversity increased 17 percent during his time there.
