R. Kent Buchanan is vice president Corporate Technology and Development and chief growth officer for Harris Corporation. He is responsible for technology planning cross-division technology collaboration technology licensing and commercialization of government-funded technology development. He also oversees new business development initiatives in both domestic and international markets and corporate development activities.
Prior to joining Harris in 2005 Mr. Buchanan was the senior director of Growth Platforms at Motorola. During 15 years with Motorola he held a number of leadership positions including vice president and general manager Global eBusiness vice president and general manager Radio Products Division vice president and general manager Accessories and Aftermarket Products Division as well as assignments in international network services and strategic marketing. Previously Mr. Buchanan worked for General Electric Medical Systems Group where he held product management marketing and strategic planning assignments and for General Instrument Corporation. He also served as a management consultant with Bain & Company.
Mr. Buchanan began his career as an officer in the United States Air Force where he had assignments as chief of production on a communications satellite program at the Space and Missile Command and in systems test engineering at the Electronic Systems Command. He is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy with a B.S. degree in electrical engineering and he received an M.B.A. degree from the Harvard Business School. |
