Dr. Kenneth Widder is Chairman and CEO of Sytera, a biopharmaceutical company developing new treatments for dry, age-related macular degeneration. As a former managing member of Windamere Capital Ventures, LP, which he helped form in 1998, he was instrumental in providing seed capital and executive management to biotech companies, including Santarus, Inc., Converge Medical, Inc., and NovaCardia, Inc. Dr. Widder also founded Molecular Biosystems, a company that develops contrast agents for clarifying ultrasound images. Dr. Widder has served on a number of boards, foundations and committees including the Mayor’s Business and Economic Development Council; the Governor’s Council on Biotechnology; and was Chairman of the Finance Committee for former San Diego mayor Susan Golding. He has also held appointments as Commissioner of the Southwestern Low-level Radioactive Waste Commission, Chairman of the board of the San Diego Regional Technology Alliance and served as former President of BIOCOM. Dr. Widder s widely published in medical journals and has 32 medical patents. He earned is medical degree from Northwestern University in 1979. |
