In 1997 Mr. Swimm retired after over 35 years in the aerospace business with General Electric and Lockheed Martin. At that time he was President of the Lockheed Martin Management and Data Systems Company. Mr. Swimm had profit and loss responsibility for all aspects of the business, accounting for annual revenues in excess of $1 billion, and the management of more than 7,000 personnel.
The company was engaged in a broad array of high technology information systems businesses with capabilities in total system's architecture, large-scale hardware and software development, integration and testing, database management, and operational support at customer facilities. The business included both government (armed forces, NASA, FAA) and commercial customers with a focus on the intelligence community. The company's mission was to provide quality services in the areas of command, control, communications and information systems. In recognition of his significant contribution to national security, the National Reconnaissance Office awarded Mr. Swimm its Medal of Superior Service.
Mr. Swimm is a graduate of Columbia College and Columbia Engineering School. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in liberal arts and a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. He also holds a Master of Science in electrical engineering from the University of New Mexico. He presently supports multiple boards as director and consults in high technology businesses.
