Ken Marek has advised the senior management teams and/or owners of over 60 companies. He has a broad range of experience and has worked with companies in various stages of development as an operational and financial advisor. He draws on 24 years of business experience, including 12 years as an investment banker and management consultant, to provide concrete solutions to middle market clients. He joined FocalPoint in January 2007 with a primary focus on restructuring engagements for companies that are engineering dramatic business changes or experiencing financial distress.
Mr. Marek previously served as a turnaround management consultant (Kibel Green), investment banker (Cappello Capital Corp. and Marek Thompson Advisors) and adjunct professor in finance and entrepreneurship (USC Marshall School of Business). His corporate advisory career began in 1995, following twelve years of broad business experience as an internal audit manager (McDonnell Douglas Travel Company) and entrepreneur (principal or advisor to numerous companies).
He is active in the Los Angeles business community, where he serves as a board director for the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG), vice chairman of the annual ACG Los Angeles Business Conference, and a member of the ACG Programs Committee. He is also an active member of Turnaround Management Association, Business Forum International, and USC Marshall Alumni Association (president emeritus).
Mr. Marek earned a Bachelors Degree in entrepreneurial management from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business, and an MBA in corporate finance from the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business, where he was recognized as the Beta Gamma Sigma Outstanding Honors Graduate.
