Professional Experience
Prior to joining Huron Ken was a Vice President in charge of Accounting Policy at Freddie Mac. Previously he led Accounting Policy for Credit Suisse in the Americas. Prior to his experience at Credit Suisse Ken held positions at three other companies including Coopers & Lybrand where he audited broker dealers banks and derivative companies for over nine years.
Ken has extensive experience advising executive management from the buy and sell side regarding a broad set of complex accounting issues including revenue recognition securitizations derivatives and hedge accounting variable interest entities repo security debt modification and lending transactions allowance for loan losses stock compensation and the accounting for contingencies.
At Freddie Mac Ken oversaw Accounting Policy where he:
Led the careful analysis of uncovering facts and framing issues in order to provide the best interpretation of accounting guidance to its stakeholders during the restatement of Freddie Mac's financial statements
Provided ongoing accounting guidance on new business initiatives and questions raised by its stakeholders.
Provided education of new or complex accounting rules to senior management in order to allow them to understand the possible alternatives as well as the best guidance under GAAP.
Analyzed emerging accounting developments including the identification of policy implications communication of changes with clients and interaction with standard setting organizations.
At Credit Suisse Ken led the startup of an Accounting Policy Team in the Americas where his responsibilities included:
Implementing SFAS 133 which governs the accounting for derivatives and structured transactions
Supporting the Front Office and the senior management in determining the accounting implications of firm and client fixed income and equity transactions for new business initiatives and structured transactions
Providing ongoing accounting guidance for questions raised by the Controllers department
Analyzing emerging accounting developments for policy implications communicating changes with clients and interacting with standard setting organizations.
