Kenneth T. Derr, Calpine's chairman of the board, has been an independent Calpine director since May 2000. In late November 2005, he was named chairman and Acting Chief Executive Officer. He was succeeded in his capacity as Acting Chief Executive Officer, with the announcement of Robert P. May as Chief Executive Officer in December 2005. Mr. Derr is also a member of the compensation committee and the chair of both the nominating and governance and the executive committees. He retired as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Chevron Corporation in 1999, a position that he held since 1989, after a 39-year career with the company. Mr. Derr obtained a Master of Business Administration degree from Cornell University in 1960 and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University in 1959.
