Dr. Robinson served in the cabinet of Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen as Commissioner of Health overseeing 3 500 state employees and a $548 million budget. From 1982 through 1991 Dr. Robinson taught and practiced internal medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and from 1991 through 2003 he was an Assistant Dean at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. Since 1991 he has served as Pastor and Chief Executive of St. Andrew AME Church. In 1998 Dr. Robinson was named one of the country's Ten Community Health Leaders by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and in 2000 he received the Community Builder Award from the national United Way of America. Dr. Robinson holds a B.A. cum laude from Harvard University a M.D. from Harvard Medical School and a Master of Divinity from Vanderbilt Divinity School.
