Kendall L. Spencer joined The South Financial Group in February 2000 serving as Executive Vice President of Commercial Banking for Mercantile Bank and then Director of Retail Banking for The South Financial Group. He currently serves as President, Mercantile Bank responsible for the Florida Market Presidents and Florida operations. Mr. Spencer has 24 years experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Mercantile Bank, Mr. Spencer served as Director of Business Banking/Professional and Executive Banking for Barnett Bank, Inc./NationsBank, and prior to that served as President and Chief Executive Officer of two Barnett Bank affiliate banks. Mr. Spencer serves as an Elder for Christ Church, Board Member for Baptist Health Foundation and is a member and past President of the Jacksonville Children’s Chorus Board of Directors. He has formerly served as Chairman of the Pasco County United Way Campaign, Pasco County Salvation Army Capital Campaign, Pasco County Economic Development Committee, Lake/Sumter Community College Board of Trustees and March of Dimes Walk America. Mr. Spencer has also completed the Leadership Jacksonville, Tampa Bay, Lake County and Alachua County programs when residing in those communities.
Mr. Spencer is a graduate of the University of Delaware, Stonier Graduate School of Banking; Trinity Evangelical Divinity School with a Masters degree of Divinity; and a Bachelors degree in Finance from the University of Florida. |
