Kenneth "Kenny" Gene Magner was born on August 19, 1957, in Newbedford, MA. Magner is from a military family and moved to Norfolk, VA in the early 1970's. At the age of 15, Kenny started to work part-time with the Tidewater Tides. In 1978, Magner became the youngest Head Groundskeeper at the time, and since then he has won the International League's Groundskeeper of the Year Award twice, in 1993 and 1997.
Kenny has been married to his wife, Tricia, for 15 years and counting. Their combined family has 4 children, Glenn and David Magner and Meghann and Nathan Kirk. Magner is very proud of the fact that he had not missed a game for 23 years, until his daughter's graduation on June 17, 2001. |
