Ms. Marks focuses primarily on the litigation and trial of complex commercial cases and class actions. Representative Cases: Member of the trial team which won a $27.5 million jury verdict in a three-week trial for software company Group 8760 in a trade secrets case. This was one of the largest verdicts ever obtained in the Circuit Court of Jefferson County, Alabama. Member of the trial team which successfully defended a major New York investment banking firm in a three-week jury trial in the Circuit Court of Montgomery, Alabama relating to WorldCom securities litigation. The trial, which was covered by The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post and Bloomberg, resulted in a hung jury 10-3 in favor of our client. Member of the team defending former officers and directors of HealthSouth in securities fraud litigation pending in federal and state courts in Alabama. Member of the litigation team representing African-American customers in a class action suit against Dillard’s, Inc. for employing racially discriminatory pricing in its hair salons. Outside the Office: Ms. Marks collects antiques and is fascinated with touring/restoring historic homes. She also enjoys art in its many forms, including sculpture, classical jazz/swing, various genres of literature, classic films, independent films and musical theatre.
