Kelvin L. Newsome is a partner with LeClairRyan, where he specializes in the defense of employment, commercial, and medical malpractice claims. Mr. Newsome represents employers in a wide variety of employment litigation matters, including employment discrimination, defamation, wrongful discharge, harassment and retaliation claims. Mr. Newsome handles all manner and types of commercial disputes, including claims for breach of contract, fraud, misappropriation of trade secrets and tortuous interference with a contract. Mr. Newsome also represents various health care providers in medical malpractice actions and before the various boards of the Virginia Department of Health Professions. Mr. Newsome has successfully tried more than 20 jury trials and several bench trials. Mr. Newsome graduated from Washington & Lee University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law. After graduating from law school, he was a clerk for one of the former justices of the Supreme Court of North Carolina. Mr. Newsome is admitted to the state and federal courts of Virginia and the District of Columbia.
