Kelly Sullivan recently joined Joele Frank, Wilkinson Brimmer Katcher with a wide range of communications experience working on behalf high-profile corporate, international and nonprofit clients.
Prior to joining Joele Frank, Wilkinson Brimmer Katcher, Ms. Sullivan led the New York office of Chlopak, Leonard, Schechter & Associates (CLS). Ms. Sullivan’s corporate experience at CLS included supporting Verizon on an ongoing basis for over 10 years on a wide range of matters including regulatory support and product roll-outs across several of the company’s business lines. Ms. Sullivan has also worked extensively with Bacardi, BriteSmile, Caremark, Cornell University, DaVita, Friends Ivory Sime, and Genworth supporting their ongoing corporate communications issues.
In addition to supporting Verizon with crisis planning surrounding the company’s most recent negotiations their largest union, Ms. Sullivan’s crisis communications experience has also included working with the Broadway producers and theatre owners in their negotiations with the Actor’s Equity Union and assisting the American Red Cross during the year following 9-11 and the concerns over its administration of the Liberty Fund donations. Other crisis clients of Ms. Sullivan’s have included Arthur Anderson, Frank Quattrone, Pfizer and the pilot’s union for Cathay Pacific.
Ms. Sullivan is also a seasoned public affairs practitioner having launched both the Pew Foundation-supported Pew Center on Global Climate Change, a coalition of high emitting companies driving the debate on climate change, and the Ted Turner-supported Better World Fund, which is dedicated to growing US support for the United Nations. Other public affairs clients have included the Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids, Independent Sector and the Coalition to Modernize the FDA.
Ms. Sullivan also has significant international experience working both in-country and in the US for a wide range of clients including the World Health Organization, the World Bank, the Government of Mauritius, the Government of Peru, the Republic of Congo, Empreras Polar and Sithe Energies.
Prior to joining CLS, Ms. Sullivan served as a spokesperson for the National Endowment for the Arts under Chairwoman Jane Alexander. Ms. Sullivan previously spent more than two years as press secretary to Congresswoman Louise M. Slaughter (D-NY).
